Wu's Roxbury grants meet city chaos again.
Roxbury grants, immigrant-lead pitch, city chaos
BOSTON — Mayor Michelle Wu's City Hall has made Roxbury grants and immigrant-lead programming a signature posture. Street order has not kept pace with the press releases.
FNN's prior desk work on Wu tracks a familiar loop: money announced, neighborhoods praised, then another week of city chaos that never quite makes the ribbon-cutting stage. Roxbury residents hear the grant language. They also hear the sirens. The mayor's immigrant-lead framing travels well in national clips. It travels less well on blocks where disorder is not a theory.
Wu's office points to investments and equity metrics. FNN points to the gap between those metrics and the lived record of street friction, grant politics, and a city that keeps asking why the same corridors stay loud. No conviction is invented here. The pattern is the story: City Hall leads with compassion branding while the disorder file refuses to close.
